Purpose
The Transportation Committee of the the Logan Square Neighborhood Association (LSNA) is dedicated to creating a safe, accessible, and equitable multimodal transportation system that prioritizes the diverse needs of the community. We aim to foster a vibrant, healthy and livable neighborhood by promoting people-centric transportation options.
Vision
We envision a Logan Square where:
- Residents can safely, comfortably and conveniently walk, bike, drive and accesspublic transportation for their daily needs.
- Streets, sidewalks, and intersections are designed to be safe and productive.
- All residents, regardless of age, ability, or income, have access to reliable and affordable transportation options.
Objectives
- Improve pedestrian safety: Advocate for infrastructure improvements such as pedestrian-friendly crosswalks, well-maintained sidewalks, and improved lighting to enhance safety for walkers of all ages and abilities.
- Reduce traffic congestion: Support policies and initiatives that reduce car dependence and improve the flow of traffic by creating a safer and more efficient transportaion network for all users.
- Promote community vitality through walkable and bikable neighborhoods: Encourage development that prioritizes safe multi-modal choices for people with and without disaabilities, leveraging mixed-use zoning and complete streets design principles, which provides safe access for those who walk, bike, take tranit, or drive.
- Enhance public transit: Advocate for increased frequency, reliability, affordability and increased choice of public transportation options service Logan Square.
- Educate and engage residents: Disseminate information about transportation options, safety tips, and advocacy opportunities for residents.
Approach
- Collaboration: Work with residents, city agencies. City Council’s Transportation Committee, SEPTA, state representativ es and senators, and other stakeholders to develop end implement effective transportation solutions.
- Data-driven decision making: Reduce traffic congestion: Base recommendations on data analysis, traffic studies, and on-going resident engagement.
- Public advocacy: Participate in public hearings, community meetings, and outreach efforts to advocate for improved transportation systems and infrastructure.
- Communication: Regularly communicate committee activties and progress to the LSNA membership and the greaater Logan Square community, through meetings, newsletters, the LSNA website and social media. community meetings, and outreach efforts to advocate for improved transportation systems and infrastructure.
