You may also view the Ninth District's reports and other advisories at the Ninth District web site, the web site built by Police Officer James Quick on his own time as a service to the community. Please also visit the Health & Safety Committee's web pages for links to more comprehensive crime information and other resources relating to the health and safety of the Logan Square community.

Holiday Food Drive

The Subcommittee on the Homeless is launching a food drive for Philabundance, items to be collected at the December 8, 2009 LSNA Board Meeting and at the 2009 LSNA Holiday Party (date/location TBA). For more information on the canned and other goods needed, please visit http://www.lsnaphilly.org/display/EXT/Holiday+Food+Drive.

(Please also watch for details on an upcoming drive to collect toiletries and other personal items for the homeless clients of The Welcome Center.)

Cell Phone Ban to Be Enforced as of December 1, 2009

The City of Philadelphia has issued the following alert: "City Council passed a law banning the use of cell phones, and text messaging while driving. Therefore, it is now a violation of the City code to talk on a cell phone or text message while operating a vehicle in the City of Philadelphia. Starting November 1st motorists who are texting or talking will be stopped by the police and warned about this new law. Then, after December 1st, if you're caught using your cell phone - either texting or on a call - you'll be fined. . . . Do your part to help keep your City and community safe."

Ninth District's Monthly Town Meeting

Light Up Logan Square!

Please help prevent crime by adequately lighting your property. Please email David Searles and David Schock at lsnahs@gmail.com and visit the Light Up Logan Square web page to learn more about the campaign to ensure that our neighborhood is well lit.

Please Join Town Watch!

To join Logan Square Town Watch, please email logansquaretownwatch@gmail.com and visit the Town Watch web page to learn more. Please email park.towne.watch@gmail.com to join the Park Towne chapter of Town Watch.

Subcommittee on the Homeless

Please email John Barrett and the Subcommittee on the Homeless at lsnahs@gmail.com with your experiences and thoughts relating to the homeless situation in the Logan Square-Parkway neighborhood.

Please also make donations to help the homeless, not to panhandlers. Giving change to people on the street usually only helps keep them there by feeding addiction and preventing them from seeking needed assistance. Instead, please make donations to organizations that provide real help by providing shelter, food, medical services, drug and alcohol treatment, and job training. Please visit [www.MakeRealChange.Org] to learn how you can contribute in a way that is productive.
