Q&A Session with Captain Dennis Wilson - Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Academy of Natural Sciences, Captain Wilson of the Ninth Police District will be available to answer questions from the Logan Square community. The Q&A session will take place in the regular LSNA meeting space in the Academy's cafeteria, which is accessible through the rear entrance on 19th Street, just north of Cherry Street. (The LSNA board meeting will start at 7:30 p.m in the same room.)

Holiday Trash Alert

Please note that, as a result of the Columbus Day holiday, which falls on October 13, 2008, trash will be collected one day late for the remainder of the week. Accordingly, pick-up normally scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2008 will now take place on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, and pick-up normally scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2008 will now take place on Thursday, October 16, 2008. Please consult the Streets Department's holiday schedule for further information and the Health & Safety Committee's Resources page for additional sanitation-related links and information.

Health & Safety Committee Meeting - Monday, Oct. 13

Please join the Health & Safety Committee for its October meeting on Monday, October 13, 2008 at CityView, 2001 Hamilton St., North Garden Room. Please RSVP to lsnahs@gmail.com to be informed of changes in time, date, or location. (Please note that the Committee usually meets on the first Wednesday of every month but that the October meeting was rescheduled.) The meeting schedule is as follows, so please attend any or all portions of interest to you.

8:15 p.m. Streetlighting Task Force

Logan Square Town Watch Recruitment Meeting - Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m.

Logan Square Town Watch, an independent organization, will be holding its fall recruitment meeting on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 8 p.m. at 113 N 23rd Street (Yo Darkroom). Muliple Sclerosis is a chronic and disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system and affects about 2.5 million people.

On November 11th (5:00PM until closing) McCrossen's Tavern is hosting a fundraiser to benefit MS research and to honor all of the courageous people fighting this disease everyday.

Tickets are $50 and you have the option to either partake in a wine tasting of 4 premium wines from around the world or any 4 drinks from the bar of your choice.

In addition to the tickets there will also:

  • A silent auction with items ranging from gift certificates, works of art, salon services, tickets, jewelry, etc.
  • A special guest Chef, Sam Sherman, cooking up tasty treats

Please stop into McCrossen's at 529 North 20th Street to reserve your tickets.
