posted Sep 6, 2017, 12:37 PM by David Cardy
Road closure info for Friday, September 8th, the night of the Parkway 100 “We Are Connected” Festival:

For the safety and convenience of attendees on September 8th for the 4-10pm Parkway 100 festival, the Parkway's outer lanes will be shut down 5-11 pm, 20th St to Binswanger Triangle. Cross streets will remain open, and will be monitored by the PPD. Officers will also be posted at Eakins Oval and Logan Square to ensure safe crossings.

Invitation to our Parkway neighbors:

Parkway 100, the 14-month centennial celebration of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia’s grand cultural boulevard, debuts with the Parkway 100 We Are Connected Festival from 4:00-10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017. Presented by the Parkway Council, in partnership with PECO, the cultural district open house offers 100+ family-friendly activities throughout the Parkway Museums District, including extended hours and free or pay-what-you-wish museum admission. There will be live music, tango dancing, public art ambassadors, beer gardens, lighted balloon parades, photo walks, storytelling, giant dot-to-dot puzzles of the Parkway attractions to celebrate the “We are Connected” celebration theme, and much more! Activities and entertainment will stretch from Dilworth Park to Fairmount Water Works, so be sure to grab a map from a Parkway 100 volunteer when you arrive!

You are invited to visit six world-class cultural institutions – the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, the Barnes Foundation, Eastern State Penitentiary, The Franklin Institute, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and Rodin Museum – for free or “pay-what-you-wish” admission from 4:00-9:00 p.m. In addition to the extended hours, guests can enjoy special programming, tours and entertainment. Watch Parkway Museums District’s Facebook page for daily highlights, and check for info about September 8th and the next few months of plans.

DVR alert: 6abc will be broadcasting a special on the Parkway’s history and the Parkway 100 celebration on Wednesday, September 208-9 pm. Be sure to watch or record it!
