The Community Bridge Program at Drexel is an effort to bridge the gap between Drexel's domestic and international students, faculty & professional staff, and the Philadelphia community.   This program provides participants with opportunities to form genuine and lasting relationships while gaining understanding, appreciation and respect for their diverse community.

The Community Bridge Program is a required component of our International Gateway Program. Gateway is our conditional admittance program. The program provides these students with a family away from home that connects them to their peers, faculty/staff, and the Philadelphia community. We place Gateway students with matriculated students, and a Drexel employee or community member to form a "community family". The groups meet once a month from October to May. The families decide on and plan their own activities for each month. The goal of this program is to foster intercultural appreciation and competence within the Drexel and Philadelphia communities.  In addition to offering students authentic opportunities to learn about different cultures and backgrounds, it provides students with a sense of stability and a much-needed support network.

As you can imagine, the program needs as many participants as possible in order to make it a success. If you would like additional information on how to get involved contact Bethany Fallon at 215-571-4139 and communitybridge@drexel.edu.
